FAREWELL TO ALLELUIA: Today’s choir anthem in the 11 a.m. Service reminds us that we are on the verge of Lent, when the “Alleluias” will be omitted from our orders of service as we focus on the sufferings and death of Jesus. After today they will fall silent until we reach another glad Easter festival on April 21.
MEMBERS COMING TO THE LORD’S TABLE today are encouraged to take some time to prepare to receive Christ’s body and blood. In the Lutheran Service Book you have resources to help with this! There’s a prayer “Before communing” (inside the front hymnal cover); Luther’s “Christian Questions with Their Answers” (LSB Pages 329-330); and a prayer “For right reception of the Lord’s Supper” (LSB Page 308). Give a few moments over to such personal preparation before the service begins … or during the offering … or even as you wait your turn as others have gone forward to commune.
USING GREETERS ONCE AGAIN: The system of greeters we formerly used to welcome people after services is being dusted off and tried again! Anyone willing to help us could sign in on a sheet posted outside Pastor Bugbee’s office. Thanks!
A “PLANNED GIVING SEMINAR” is coming to our church on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon. David Friesen of Winnipeg (one of our pastor’s former co-workers there) represents Lutheran Church-Canada Financial Ministries (LCCFM) and will tell about ways to let your commitment to Christ show itself in the way you handle the wealth the Lord has given you. There’s a special insert in today’s bulletin … please plan on coming.
SET YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD ONE HOUR when you go to bed next Saturday night. All services and classes on Sunday, March 10, will begin on Eastern Daylight time. Don’t forget!
COPIES OF OUR 2018 ANNUAL REPORT are still available at the back of the church if you didn’t get one at last week’s Voters’ Assembly. It will provide an overview, not only of the statistics in various area of our church family life, but also gives updates of the Lord’s work here as we move into 2019.
2019 LENTEN DAILY DEVOTIONALS (People of the Passion), printed by Lutheran Hour Ministries, are available at the back of the church. We also offer LARGE PRINT copies if needed.
OUR CHURCH’S NATIONAL MAGAZINE, the Canadian Lutheran, is available at the back of the church. Note Pages 32 and 34 especially, which highlight Pastor Torgerson’s move from the St. Catharines Seminary faculty to his new ministry among us here in Windsor.
SUNDAY SCHOOL IS BACK! Children can join us every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the Auditorium while the Adult Bible Class meets with Pastor Bugbee at the same time in the church. Since our Sunday School was “out of action” for some months, can you help spread the word that we’re back?
LUTHERAN HOUR: “Is God Everybody’s Father?” (John 8) – A Christian can say, “I am not Jesus, but we have the same Father”. Hear this inspirational message by Speaker Rev. Dr. Michael Ziegler on the Lutheran Hour, Sundays at 560AM (WRDT) at noon. Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca. A special devotion is also available online from Lutheran Hour Ministries each day during Lent at www.lhm.org/lent.
