DEAR VISITOR AND FRIEND, we are a family of believers gathered here around the promises of Jesus Christ.  Your presence today is a joy and an encouragement to us!  Speak to one of our ushers if you need help with anything while you are here.  If you have no other “church home” here in the area, come see us again soon!

ATTENDANCE Sunday, March 10, 2019:  German Service, 29; English Service, 76; TOTAL, 105.  Adult Bible Class, 31.

Wednesday, March 13, 2019:  Mid-Week Lenten Service, 37.

SERVING THIS COMING WEEK:

(Acolytes Today) – Abigail McLeod, Mirek Mulukajo

(Acolytes next Sunday) – Cameron Baillargeon, Grace Johnson

USING GREETERS ONCE AGAIN:  The system of greeters we formerly used to welcome people after services is being dusted off and tried again!  Anyone willing to help us could sign in on a sheet posted outside Pastor Bugbee’s office.  Thanks!

2019 LENTEN DAILY DEVOTIONALS (People of the Passion), printed by Lutheran Hour Ministries, are still available at the back of the church.  We also offer LARGE PRINT copies if needed.

ASLEEP IN CHRIST:  Eric Buchholzer (1947-2019), who died this past Thursday evening.  God give His comfort to all the loved ones and friends touched by this loss.  Funeral arrangements are incomplete.  Jesus said, As I live, you shall live also.

PASTOR TORGERSON IS AWAY from parish.  Among other things, he will be teaching at our mission seminary in Usatovo, Ukraine (near Odessa), and will later represent the seminary at a gathering of theological teachers in Latvia.  Pastor Bugbee will be here throughout these weeks if you need pastoral care.

SENIOR CONFIRMATION PARENTS meet with Pastor Bugbee after the 11:00 Service next Sunday, March 24.  We’ve got to get everyone “up to speed” on scheduling, gowns, photographs, etc.  This is an important part of our preparation on behalf of Cameron, Beau, Abbie and Rachael, the confirmation class of 2019.

WE KEEP WALKING THROUGH 1 PETER as the Bible’s foundation for the preaching in these midweek services.  You can be well prepared for this Wednesday’s gathering—March 20 at 7:00 p.m.—by reading 1 Peter, Chapter 2!

SUNDAY SCHOOL UPCOMING BREAKS:  Sunday School classes will not be held today since a number of pupils and teachers are away for the March school break.  Classes meet again next Sunday, March 24, then have another day off on March 31 because of the fellowship breakfast being held between the two morning services that day.

PLAN TO ATTEND THE SEMINAR on planned giving and the overall Christian handling of money, set for Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at the church.  My former co-worker, David Friesen, will be here from Winnipeg to serve as guest presenter.  You can indicate your intention to come in any of these ways:

–           by phoning the church office (519-256-2667);

–           by e-mail to Cindy (cisrael@firstlutheranchurch.ca.); or

–           by signing up on the sheet outside my office.

I am eager that many of our people will respond to this gathering.  It could be a source of real blessing to people in their personal lives, and also in the life of our congregation.  Do join us!             –Pastor Bugbee

MEMBERS COMING TO THE LORD’S TABLE today are encouraged to take some time to prepare to receive Christ’s body and blood.  In the Lutheran Service Book you have resources to help with this!  There’s a prayer “Before communing” (inside the front hymnal cover); Luther’s “Christian Questions with Their Answers” (LSB Pages 329-330); and a prayer “For right reception of the Lord’s Supper” (LSB Page 308).  Give a few moments over to such personal preparation before the service begins … or during the offering … or even as you wait your turn as others have gone forward to commune.

LUTHERAN HOUR:  “Ba-a-ah” (John 10) – Strikingly, Jesus refers to his people both as “sheep” and as “gods” (Psalm 82).  How does that work?  Hear this inspirational message by Speaker Rev. Dr. Michael Ziegler on the Lutheran Hour, Sundays at 560AM (WRDT) at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.  A special devotion is also available online from Lutheran Hour Ministries each day during Lent at www.lhm.org/lent.
