FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH – This Week‘s Events (August 20 – 26, 2018)
Next Sunday: 8:45 a.m. German Worship/Holy Communion
10:00 a.m. English Worship
ENTER, REST AND PRAY: We welcome visitor and member alike to God’s house in the holy Name of Jesus. The Lord bless your hearing of Christ’s Good News today. If you are visiting here, do not hesitate to ask one of the ushers if you need help with anything. We’d love to have you sign our guestbook in the entryway after the service. And do come again soon, especially if you have no church home here in the area.
ATTENDANCE LAST SUNDAY (August 12): German Service, 28; English Service, 58; TOTAL, 86.
TODAY’S USHERS: Chris Anderson, Russ Anderson, Jeff Laszewski, Paul Taylor
NEXT SUNDAY’S USHERS: Bryan Johnson, Scott McLeod, Cuthbert Owenya, Rob Stark
LUTHERAN HOUR: “In Your Light We See Light” (Psalm 36) – Meditation is time to think, and Christian meditation thinks about God in the light of Jesus Christ. It is “a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.” Listen to today’s Speaker Rev. Dr. Dale A. Meyer on Sunday mornings at 1130AM at 6:30 a.m., 1600AM at 9:00 a.m., or 560AM at noon. Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.
PREPARE FOR TODAY’S PREACHING by taking a moment before the service to look up and read the Old Testament lesson for this morning, Proverbs 9: 1-10. (It’s in the pew Bibles in front of you on Page 533.) Because the Lord speaks here in picture language, it may help to meditate on it briefly before Pastor Bugbee begins preaching on it.
WE PRAY FOR THE MARRIAGE of Amos Tilley and Danielle Buller in Dorset, Ontario. Though it’s far from here, we ask the Lord Christ to be near them on the wedding day and throughout their lives.
OUR SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE continues for two more Sundays after today, August 26 and September 2. On the Sunday after Labour Day (September 9), we return to the regular schedule of services at 8:45 and 11 a.m., with Sunday School and Adult Bible Class in between at 9:45 a.m.
CHURCH OFFICE CLOSURES THIS WEEK: Our church office will only be open this week, Tuesday and Thursday (August 21 and 23), from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
