LUTHERAN HOUR:  “Eager to Preach the Good News” (Romans 1:  14-17) – “The Lutheran Hour” begins its 86th broadcast season with a classic message from Dr. Oswald Hoffman.  The Good News is really good; good enough to believe, good enough to trust.  Listen to the Lutheran Hour on Sunday mornings at 1130AM at 6:30 a.m., 1600AM at 9:00 a.m., or 560AM at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.

REGULAR WORSHIP SCHEDULE resumes next Sunday, September 9.  It runs like this:

8:45 a.m.             German Service  (communion on 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month);

9:45 a.m.              Adult Bible Class (in the church with Pastor Bugbee);

Sunday School (in the auditorium);

11:00 a.m.           English Service   (communion on 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month)

PRAYING ON COMMUNION DAYS:  Use some of the time you have at a Holy Communion service to pray and meditate!  For example, before you go to the Sacrament, there’s a great section in your hymnbook called “Christian Questions with Their Answers” (LSB, Pages 329-330).  Later on, while others make their way to the Lord’s table, it’s a fruitful time to pray for our church … her pastor and leaders … for those you know who may have a special need right now.

ENGLISH CHOIR REHEARSALS resume after summer break this Thursday, September 6, at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.  They practice every other Thursday and are eager to welcome new voices this fall.  No professional music experience required … we’ll teach you what you need to know!  This group makes our English services seem very festive, and you’re welcome to come help them sing the Lord’s praises.

ABOUT OUR ADULT BIBLE CLASS:  Before fall ever begins, I lay it on the hearts of as many of you as possible to resolve to join me for the Adult Bible Class on Sundays, 9:45-10:45 a.m., here in the church.  God gave us a strong “re-start” to these classes after the vacancy last winter and spring, for which I am deeply grateful.  The commitment to reading and studying God’s Word as a spiritual discipline is one of the primary measurements of a congregation’s health, and I hope you’ll be part of strengthening our church family—as well as your own faith-life—by making this resolve already now and praying to the Lord to help you keep it!                                                                                                                                                                             Pastor Bugbee

TAKE A COPY HOME!  The latest issue of The Canadian Lutheran, the national magazine of our Lutheran Church—Canada, is yours for the taking at the back of the church.  For those concerned about the future of the Christian faith and church in our time, the article on Pages 6-8 (Lutherans and the Benedict Option) is especially interesting.
