ENTER, REST AND PRAY: Take a moment before worship to pray God’s blessing today on those who lead us in word and song. Ask Him also to open your ears and heart to let Christ’s Good News in, so that it takes deep root inside you. If you find it hard to know what to say, there are prayers you can use as “thought-starters” inside the front cover of the Lutheran Service Book. Visitors and guests among us, we’re really glad to have you here! Sign the guestbook in the vestibule after the service, and let our ushers know if you need anything during your visit. Come again soon!
ATTENDANCE LAST SUNDAY (September 2): German Service, 34; English Service, 63; TOTAL, 97.
TODAY’S USHERS: Mike Gagnier, Rich Garton, Bryan Johnson, Gerry Skillings
NEXT SUNDAY’S USHERS: Chris Anderson, Russ Anderson, Ben Eberhard, Javed Khan
TO BE BAPTIZED today at 11:00: Claira Jillian, infant daughter of Chad and Tammy (née Kani) Harris. The Bible says, “All of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ” (Galatians 3:27). The Lord hold Claira that close to her Saviour Jesus all her life through!
CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS RESUME today after the summer break. At 9:45 a.m. on Sundays, children can gather in the auditorium for their classes, while youth and adults join Pastor Bugbee in the main church for Sunday Bible Class. We’re eager to get as many members as possible into regular study and grappling with God’s Word in Scripture.
CONFIRMATION STUDENTS AND PARENTS – both first- and second-year – have their organizing meeting this coming Thursday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the lounge. We sent letters out announcing this a few weeks back, but mention it again as a gentle reminder.
THE CANADIAN LUTHERAN, the national magazine of Lutheran Church—Canada, is yours for the taking on a chair in the vestibule on the way out of church today … in case you didn’t already get a copy last week. There’s a very thought-provoking article on Pages 6-8 entitled, “Lutherans and the Benedict Option,” for these times when the Christian faith is being discarded by large segments of our society.
LUTHERAN HOUR: “The Changeless Christ for a Changing World” (Hebrews 13: 8) – “The Lutheran Hour” presents another classic message from the archives, featuring our program’s founder and first speaker, Dr. Walter A. Maier. In a sermon first broadcast in 1937, Dr. Maier proclaims “The Changeless Christ for a Changing World”. Listen to the Lutheran Hour on Sunday mornings at 1130AM at 6:30 a.m., 1600AM at 9:00 a.m., or 560AM at noon. Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.
