DURING COMMUNION AT LATE SERVICE, please note that two communion hymns are listed, and not just one as we have grown used to. This will help worshipers use the time well for singing and praising the Lord while others are at His Table. As always, listen for the little “clues” our organist provides, raising the volume when it’s time for you to sing … and quieting things down when it’s time to pause from singing.
SEVERAL NEW MEMBERS coming to us by transfer and adult confirmation will be received next Sunday at the 11:00 Service. Once you note who they are, take the time to introduce yourself and welcome them personally!
THOSE WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE from our church family will be publicly commemorated on All Saints’ Sunday, two weeks from today on Sunday, November 4, at both services. We will read the full roster of names since last year’s All Saints’ festival and join in special prayers and singing. Make a point of being here to join us!
THE FINAL EAST DISTRICT CONVENTION met this past week in downtown London. In the streamlined structure going into effect on January 1 in Lutheran Church-Canada (LCC), there will be no incorporated Districts, but LCC is divided into regions which require no separate conventions, boards of directors, etc. Delegates elected a new “Regional Pastor” to serve the East Region in the person of Rev. Marvin Bublitz, who was chosen over current District President Rev. Paul J. Zabel on the third ballot. In other news, “our own” James Krestick was elected to serve on the new “Regional Mission and Ministry Council,” which will do brainstorming and planning for the Lord’s work in this part of the country.
PORTALS OF PRAYER, the daily prayer and devotional guide, is yours for the taking at the back of the church and in the hallway leading to the offices. The latest issue covers the period from October to December.
LUTHERAN HOUR: “We Preach Christ Crucified” (1 Corinthians 1: 23-24) – In a classic message from 1955, Dr. Oswald Hoffman talks about all the things that change – and the God Who doesn’t. Listen to today’s Lutheran Hour on Sunday morning at 560AM (WRDT) at noon. Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.
