SUNDAY SCHOOL IS BACK … LET PEOPLE KNOW!  We have now resumed classes for children every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the Auditorium.  Since some families were looking forward to this, please spread the word that children are welcome to join us!  Just show up … no advance preparation necessary!

INTERESTED IN A HYMNAL?  We plan to order copies of the Lutheran Service Book (LSB), the hymnal we use for our English services.  Would you like one (or more) to have at home for your family?  The cost is $40.00 (Canadian) per copy.  If you want in on this order, contact Cindy in the church office (519-256-2667) or by e-mail to cisrael@firstlutheranchurch.ca.

ONE MORE ADULT HELPER is needed for the work we’re planning over the next months for junior youth gatherings.  Sharlene Procknow (of our Academy’s teaching faculty) heads this up, but needs an additional adult to assist, especially if an emergency would arise or if a large number of youth are present.  If you are open to this, you can reach her at:  flcjunioryouth@hotmail.com.

“THE TASTE OF GETHSEMANE” will once again take place this year on Family Day, Monday, February 18th.  Please join them at Gethsemane Lutheran Church (1921 Cabana Rd. West), with the doors opening at 4:30 p.m. and the tasting beginning at 4:45 p.m.  Food tickets are $2.00 per taste.  Food choices include cabbage rolls, pulled pork, Sudanese Cuisine, Porcupine Beef Balls, salad, lasagna, spinach balls, chili, hot dogs, penne, baked goods are more.  Come and taste the flavour of friendship and family!

GLAD NEWS FROM OUR ACADEMY:  The Board of our First Lutheran Christian Academy (FLCA) learned last week that the 2018 Advent Appeal resulted in $45,612 in gifts to the school, a strong increase over 2017 and more than double the gifts from five years earlier ($19,216 in 2013).  We praise God for putting it into people’s hearts to support the Christian training of children this way, and thank especially members of our church family who took part!

LUTHERAN HOUR:  “Slow Solution” (John 20:  21) – Some problems can be quickly resolved.  Others require us to interact with people, take time to know them, get involved with them.  The Gospel is the answer to the hidden problem that separates us from God and from each other.  Hear this inspirational message by Speaker Rev. Dr. Michael Ziegler on the Lutheran Hour, Sundays at 560AM (WRDT) at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.
