CHURCH OFFICE HOURS:  Our office is closed tomorrow for Labour Day Monday, reopening on Tuesday.  After that we return to regular office hours, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

WECLO BIBLE AND ESL CLASSES begin fall sessions on Monday, September 9, and continue then every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1921 Cabana Road West.  The first day is an orientation for all classes.  After that, the Monday sessions are devoted to Bible study, and the Wednesday ones are ESL (English as Second Language).  We’re grateful for the ongoing leadership of “our own” Javed Khan.  If you know newcomers to Canada who would benefit from these classes, let us know in the church office … and we’ll pass on the information.

REGULAR WORSHIP SCHEDULE RESUMES next Sunday, September 8, and runs as follows:

8:45 a.m.           German Service (communion 2nd and 4th Sundays)

9:45 a.m.           Sunday School Classes for Children (in the Auditorium)

Adult Bible Class with Pastor Bugbee (in the church)

11:00 a.m.          English Service (communion 1st and 3rd Sundays)

PASTOR TORGERSON IS HELPING IN CHATHAM again this morning, since Our Saviour Lutheran Church there remains vacant without a resident pastor.  Both pastors will, however, be reachable through our office all this week.  We thank Pastor Daniel Bonato for his help today in the English communion service.

YOUNG ADULTS MEET AGAIN on Friday, September 6, at 6:30 p.m. here at church.  Bring a little money to chip in for food we’ll order in.

LUTHERAN FOUNDATION CANADA announces that “our own” James Krestick has been named Gift Coordinator for Lutheran Church—Canada’s East Region.  (If you attended the Planned Giving Seminar here last spring, this is the role David Friesen carries out for Manitoba and Saskatchewan.)  We thank God for opening this avenue for James to serve, and ask the Lord to bless the great work he’ll do!

THE CANADIAN LUTHERAN, the national magazine of Lutheran Church-Canada, is yours for the taking today at the back of the church.  The new issue includes on Page 29 the news story of Matt Fenn’s ordination here last June.

LWML-CANADA FALL RALLY is set for Saturday, September 14, at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Amherstburg.  Speakers include:  Pastor Ron Mohr (of Lutheran Bible Translators of Canada); Ardith Pollex (with a new medical mission video), and Tirzah Krey (preparing to be a missionary nurse in the Dominican Republic).  All women from our church family are welcome – and encouraged – to be there!

CHURCH DIRECTORY PHOTOS, ROUND TWO!  We’re overjoyed that around 60 families had pictures taken in August for our upcoming 100th Anniversary photo directory.  Now we’re announcing additional time-slots (Wednesday, October 23 – Saturday, October 26) to give others a chance who were not yet able to take part.  We’re eager to have everybody in the “milestone” centennial anniversary book.  Even if you choose not to purchase pictures, just your willingness to sit for portraits gets you a place in this publication.

CONCORDIA SEMINARY INVITES EVERYONE to the Opening Service of its academic year, set for Sunday, September 8, at 4:00 p.m. in the Seminary Chapel at 470 Glenridge Avenue, St. Catharines.  This year the Emeritus Crucis (Veteran of the Cross) goes to Pastor Thomas Prachar, recently retired President of the LCC’s Central District.  A fellowship hour will follow the service.
