THANKSGIVING:  We give thanks for the many blessings the Lord bestows upon us and we ask Him to help us become faithful Christians who serve Him joyfully.  We ask that your Thanksgiving offerings be brought up directly to the altar by the individual families (the ushers will assist you in doing this).  Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

THANKSGIVING MUMS:  The Thanksgiving mums were placed today to the glory of God and in loving memory of Mrs. Adelheid Jechalke (who was called to eternity on October 6, 2001) by her children Cornelia and Russ Anderson, Karen and David Darling, Ron and Ronita Jechalke, and her grandchildren Christopher, Alyssa, Lindsey, Kassie, Ashley, Jocelynn and Peyton.  May God bless all of your family and grant you comfort and peace knowing of the love shown to all of us by our loving Saviour Jesus Christ.

CALLED HOME:  It has pleased Almighty God to call home the soul of our dear member Mrs. Helene Weber, who was called to eternity on Saturday, September 23rd at the blessed age of 92 years.  We pray for all of her family and friends, that God will grant them comfort and peace knowing we will be reunited with all believers in the blessed eternity.

ALTAR FLOWERS:  The altar flowers were placed today by our Altar Guild, to the glory of God and in thankfulness for God’s many blessings upon each and every one of us.  Happy Thanksgiving!

THANK YOU!  We would like to say a special thank you to the Altar Guild members who did such a beautiful job decorating our sanctuary for our Thanksgiving celebration.  What a wonderful way to honour Thanksgiving by sitting in our beautiful sanctuary, thanking our loving God for our many blessings.

THE REFORMATION:  A new book has been released with many informative facts, illustrations, portraits, maps and other visual highlights of the Reformation, as we prepare to celebrate its 500th Anniversary.  The Reformation is available from Concordia Publishing House, and can be purchased at a reduced price of $24.99 (U.S. funds) by signing up on the poster outside of Pastor’s office.  The reduced price offer will end on October 16th.  A small sampler of the book is available in the church office if you would like to review it.

PORTALS OF PRAYERS:  The October to December edition of Portals of Prayer has arrived.  Please help yourself to this wonderful daily devotional book, available at the back of the church and in the hallway.

SPECIAL LUTHERAN HOUR:  “Thanksgiving is Today” (Psalm 95:  1-7) – Today there will be a special Canadian Thanksgiving Special Message presented by LCC President Rev. Robert Bugbee – Why would this be, that Thanksgiving is always in place?  How could this possibly be, since your life right now may not look anything like that old Norman Rockwell picture with a big happy family glad to be gathered around a huge feast? Listen to The Lutheran Hour on Sunday mornings at 1130AM at 6:30 a.m., 1600AM at 9:00 a.m., or 560AM at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.
