LUTHERAN HOUR:  “A Long Good-Bye” (Luke 2:  27-32) – As the year comes to a close, we likely have regrets and guilt.  We can beat ourselves up over work left undone, but Jesus Christ has assured us that He is our hope.  His grace is more than sufficient to take us into another year and give us peace.  Hear this inspirational message by today’s Guest Speaker Dr. Dean Nadasdy on the Lutheran Hour, Sundays at 560AM (WRDT) at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS IS ON BREAK this morning and will not meet between the two services.  Pastor Bugbee resumes the class next Sunday, January 6, at 9:45 a.m.

USE YOUR ENGLISH … HELP NEWCOMERS!  We need volunteers to help at the ESL (English as a Second Language) classes on Mondays and/or Wednesdays (from 10-12 Noon) at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1921 Cabana Road West.  Newcomers to Canada are eager to learn and have contact with people like you who speak English natively.  This would be a great service of love toward these people.  Classes will begin January 7.  If you have questions, contact Javed Khan.  Javed is a member of our church and Director of the Windsor-Essex County Lutheran Outreach organization (usually called “WECLO”).

HOLIDAY ATTENDANCE REPORT:  Average attendance at midweek Advent services in 2018 was 42 (compared to 23 in 2017).  Christmas Eve German service was 73 in 2018 (compared to 49 in 2017); Christmas Eve English stood at 186 in 2018 (up from 175 in 2017); Christmas Eve total was 259 (up from 224 in 2017).  Christmas Day service was 44 (compared to 22 in 2017).  It should be noted that there was bad weather in 2017, but we thank God for the strong response to the Word being proclaimed here at Advent and Christmas.

PICK UP 2019 CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES today from the Lounge after services.  If you have relatives or others whose box you could take along and deliver, that would be great, too!  Let’s get these home as soon as possible … thanks!

NEW PORTALS OF PRAYER are still available at the back of the church and in the church hallway.  The new issue covers the period January-March 2019.  Help yourself to this helpful daily prayer guide!
