LUTHERAN HOUR:  “Reason to Believe” (John 1:  19-51) – Do you have a reason to believe that everyone should believe what you believe?  John did.  Come and see.  Hear this inspirational message by Speaker Rev. Dr. Michael Zeigler on the Lutheran Hour, Sundays at 560AM (WRDT) at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.

NEW PORTALS OF PRAYER are still available at the back of the church and in the church hallway.  The new issue covers the period January – March 2019.  Help yourself to this helpful daily prayer guide!

SUNDAY SCHOOL RESUMES TODAY:  Classes for children—including singing—are being offered today and every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the Auditorium.  We’re grateful for the co-workers who are making this happen again after some months of inactivity.  Now parents can bring kids to Sunday School and join Pastor Bugbee’s Bible Class for adults in the church during the same time-frame.

SERVICE OF PRAYER AND PREACHING is an order of worship in our Lutheran Service Book, Pages 260-267.  It was used in years past, but fell into disuse with our long pastoral vacancy, etc.  We’ll try it again on Sundays when Holy Communion is not celebrated in English.  Have a look in your hymnal and see if you remember it!  We start in two weeks on January 27.

EAST DISTRICT LUTHERAN YOUNG ADULTS—also known as “EDLYA”—is hosting a study retreat January 25-27 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Amherstburg.  You can find more information (including how to register) at their website, www.edlya.ca.  If you’ve got questions or need transportation, please contact the church office.  Bring a friend, and come join us!

USE YOUR ENGLISH … HELP NEWCOMERS!  We need volunteers to help at the ESL (English as a Second Language) classes on Mondays and/or Wednesdays (from 10-12 Noon) at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1921 Cabana Road West.  Newcomers to Canada are eager to learn and have contact with people like you who speak English natively.  This would be a great service of love toward these people.  Classes will begin January 7.  If you have questions, contact Javed Khan.  Javed is a member of our church and Director of the Windsor-Essex County Lutheran Outreach organization (usually called “WECLO”).

THE CANADIAN LUTHERAN, Lutheran Church-Canada’s national magazine is still available for you today at the back of the church.  Please help yourself to a copy, and bring one home for a friend too!
