VOTERS TONIGHT: Our regular congregational meeting is set for this evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Among other things, the agenda includes election of officers for 2019, and adoption of a spending budget for the new year. Join us! It really helps to have as many members as possible informed about the issues that affect our congregation.
90 YEARS AGO THIS DAY – on December 2, 1928 – the church building where we meet was dedicated to God’s glory. We still benefit from the sacrifice and love shown by the mothers and fathers of our congregation, who gave us this “home” where Christ keeps coming in His Word and at His Table. “Lord, I love the house where You live, the place where Your glory dwells” (Psalm 26:8). We honour this place best of all when we hurry here time and again to meet Him here, week by week and year by year!
WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS GATHERING TOMORROW: Our Lutheran Women’s Missionary League—Canada (LWMLC) Christmas-season meeting is Monday, December 3, 7:00 p.m. We’ll reveal “prayer partners” for this past year, and choose news ones for 2019. Bring a small dessert to share with others for the fellowship time … join us!
ADVENT DAILY DEVOTIONALS (“The Coming King”) are now available at the back of the church. Please help yourself to these wonderful daily devotional books, printed each year by Lutheran Hour Ministries, as they will help you walk through this Advent season with daily Bible readings and prayers. LARGE PRINT COPIES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE.
PLEASE PICK UP 2019 CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES today from the Parlour. If you have other family members or others whose box you could take along and deliver, that would be great, too! Let’s get these home as soon as possible … thanks!
START PRAYING TOWARD CHRISTMAS: Take time in your personal prayers to think about someone you could invite (or bring along) to worship, especially for Christmas Eve; a relative, an inactive member of our church family, a friend who would benefit from hearing the Good News of Jesus. Pray that the Lord would bring someone to mind … would open a door for you to invite … and give you the right words to say. Christmas can be a great “outreach moment” if you see it through God’s own eyeglasses!
OUR PARTNER CHURCH IN GERMANY has given us German-language altar agenda, which provides the details for each Sunday and festival, as well as rich resources for congregational prayers. This is an expensive book, and our friends there have gifted it to us at no cost, for which we’re deeply grateful.
LUTHERAN HOUR: “Reality Therapy” (Ruth 1-2) – The book of Ruth deals with unimportant people and unimportant matters, but deals with them in such a way as to show that God is active in ordinary lives – like yours and mine. Hear this inspirational message by Rev. Dr. Michael Zeigler on the Lutheran Hour, Sundays at 560AM (WRDT) at noon. Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.
