ALTAR FLOWERS were placed this morning to the glory of God and in thanksgiving for their wedding yesterday, by Matthew Krey and Sarah Bestvater.  The Lord bless them with joy!

ON THIS FATHERS’ DAY, both children and fathers do well to aim deeper than just the typical kinds of greetings.  Fathers still actively guiding children at home should sense their strong responsibility to hold them close to Christ and to honour the vows they made on their baptismal days.  Sons and daughters love their fathers best of all when they pray to God on their behalf, and thank them repeatedly—not just today!—for bringing them to Jesus.  Even if our fathers have died, this is a great moment to thank the Lord for the loving things they said and did while still with us.

QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING is set for next Sunday, June 24, at 7:00 p.m.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS meets today and next Sunday, June 24, between the two morning services in the church.  God has given us a great “re-start” to our Bible class work since our pastoral vacancy ended in February, for which we are so grateful.

FLCA FAMILY CARNIVAL:  Come one, come all!  The FLCA Family Carnival will be held this coming Wednesday, June 20th from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m.  There are no tickets to purchase for participating, however, a free-will offering would be welcome.  This will be a great time with lots of fun games and events.  Please plan on coming and bring your friends and neighbours too!  All children must have an adult present in order to attend.  There will be snacks available for purchase.  We hope to see you all there!

PORTALS OF PRAYER, the daily devotional guide, is yours for the taking at the back of the church and also in the hallway outside the church proper.  The new issue runs from July to September.  These booklets provide a daily Bible reading with brief reflections, as well as guidance for your private prayers at home.  Try it out, especially if you’ve never done so before!

A GROWING NUMBER OF MEMBERS are tuning in to Issues, Etc., a daily show including faithful Lutheran Biblical teaching, reviews of movies, discussion of things happening in current culture, and more.  The weekly episode “Preparing for Sunday Morning” can get you ready for Bible readings and themes prior to coming to church.  When you are online, stop in and “see” them at www.issuesetc.org.

LUTHERAN HOUR:  “Tell Me a Story!” (Mark 4:  26-34) – Jesus loves to tell us stories.  In His stories about the normal things of life, Jesus teaches us about the reign of God in our lives.  This Father’s Day, what makes for a godly father, or mother or Christian?  The willingness to tell our stories.  Listen to today’s Lutheran Hour Speaker Rev. Dr. Dale A. Meyer on Sunday mornings at 1130AM at 6:30 a.m., 1600AM at 9:00 a.m., or 560AM at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.
