SUMMER SCHEDULE BEGINS NEXT SUNDAY:  As of Canada Day, July 1, we move to our summer worship times; the German service continues all summer at 8:45 a.m., while the English service starts an hour earlier than usual at 10:00 a.m.  This schedule continues through Labour Day weekend.

THE LORD IS FAITHFUL TO YOU ALL SUMMER, and we ask, “Will you respond with faithfulness to Him?”  God bless the holiday time and travels you treasure, but do plan to be here in His House and at Christ’s table every summer Sunday you are able.

READ THE CANADIAN LUTHERAN, the national magazine of Lutheran Church-Canada.  Copies of the latest edition are available this morning at the back of the church.

ABOUT THIS DAY:  It’s now six months until Christmas Eve.  When Mary learned she was expecting the Christ-Child, her (much older) cousin Elizabeth was already six months along in her pregnancy as she carried the son who became known as “John the Baptist.”  This is why the church has set aside this day, June 24, to mark John’s birth.  We sing Advent hymns today, since John’s ministry was to prepare the way for Christ, as we remember every Advent.

IMPORTANT VOTERS’ MEETING TONIGHT begins at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.  Though this is the regular quarterly meeting, we do have an important matter to discuss and are eager to see many of you there.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS has its final session this morning at 9:45 a.m. before beginning a 10-week summer break next Sunday.  God has blessed us with a strong participation in these classes since they resumed last February after our pastor’s installation.  We’ll be anxious to build on this when classes begin meeting again on September 9.

CHURCH OFFICE CLOSURES THIS WEEK:  Our church office will only be open this week, Tuesday-Thursday, June 26-28, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  We owe Cindy some free time after she put in extra hours recently, and so the office will be closed this Monday and Friday.  I thank you all in advance for your understanding on this!  Pastor Bugbee

PORTALS OF PRAYER, the daily devotional guide, is yours for the taking at the back of the church and also in the hallway outside the church proper.  The new issue runs from July to September.  These booklets provide a daily Bible reading with brief reflections, as well as guidance for your private prayers at home.  Try it out, especially if you’ve never done so before!

A GROWING NUMBER OF MEMBERS are tuning in to Issues, Etc., a daily show including faithful Lutheran Biblical teaching, reviews of movies, discussion of things happening in current culture, and more.  The weekly episode “Preparing for Sunday Morning” can get you ready for Bible readings and themes prior to coming to church.  When you are online, stop in and “see” them at www.issuesetc.org.

THE SPRING SEMINARY NEWSLETTER is now available for you in the church hallway.  Please help yourself to a copy of the news from the Seminary, which includes a small article from our member Vicar Matt Fenn and his family.

LUTHERAN HOUR:  “Jesus, Don’t You Care?” (Mark 4:  38-41) – After seeing one of the Saviour’s miracles the disciples asked, “Who is this Guy?”  After Pentecost, they knew who Jesus was and why He had come.  Even so, the world keeps coming up with wrong answers when they ask, “Just who is this Guy?”  Listen to today’s Lutheran Hour Speaker Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus on Sunday mornings at 1130AM at 6:30 a.m., 1600AM at 9:00 a.m., or 560AM at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.
