ADVENT MIDWEEK SERVICES got off to a wonderful start last week … the next one is set for Wednesday, December, 12, at 7:00 p.m.  This 40-45 minute devotion will focus on the next part of Mary’s Magnificat … how the Lord BRINGS DOWN and EXALTS.  Coffee and fellowship follow the worship.  Make a point of coming!

HELP US WELCOME PASTOR TORGERSON next Sunday, December 16.  Plan now to attend the festive installation service at 4:00 p.m., and do figure on staying for the potluck dinner and congregational Advent celebration afterward in the auditorium.  Note about the potluck:  Bring a bit more than what you would need just for your family, since visitors and guests will be here from out of town.  Thanks!

BE CHRIST’S HEART AND VOICE FOR CHRISTMAS:  Take time already now in personal prayers to think of someone you might invite—or bring with you—to worship, especially for Christmas Eve.  Maybe it’s a loved one, an inactive member of our church, or a friend who needs the Good News of Jesus.  Ask God to open a door for you to invite, and to give you the right words to say.  Christmas can be a fruitful outreach moment.  Will you see it that way?

PICK UP 2019 CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES today from the Lounge after services.  If you have relatives or others whose box you could take along and deliver, that would be great, too!  Let’s get these home as soon as possible … thanks!

ADVENT DAILY DEVOTIONALS (“The Coming King”) are still available at the back of the church.  Please help yourself to these wonderful daily devotional books, printed each year by Lutheran Hour Ministries, as they will help you walk through this Advent season with daily Bible readings and prayers.  LARGE PRINT COPIES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE.

LUTHERAN HOUR:  “Redeemer with a Capital R” (Ruth 3-4) – When people use the word “redeem” outside of religious context, they tend to use it in a commercial sense – redeeming points from purchases or casino tokens for cash.  Jesus has done more than pay our points.  He redeems us by bringing us into his clan, his people, his household, that we might be with him forever.  Hear this inspirational message by Rev. Dr. Michael Zeigler on the Lutheran Hour, Sundays at 560AM (WRDT) at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.
