LET’S BRING A CHILDREN’S CHOIR BACK TO LIFE!  We’ve got a willing coordinator in the person of Hannah Garton, who is eager to see us resume choral work with any children, ages 3-10.  Practices could either be Thursday evenings or Sunday mornings after the Sunday School hour.  Would your kids like to join us?  Or do you know of someone you can encourage in this direction?  Contact the church office by phone (519-256-2667) or via e-mail (cisrael@firstlutheranchurch.ca).  What a glad thing this could be!

ON THIS MOTHERS’ DAY, the world around us has its way of recognizing mothers … we want to encourage you especially to see them as God does.  They are gracious gifts from Him, His chosen instruments to help give us life and nurture us.  This is a great moment to thank Him for them, including thanks for the ones who have gone to their eternal rest, because their work lives on!

PASTOR BUGBEE IS ABSENT FROM PARISH beginning tomorrow through to Wednesday evening, May 14-16, for the East District Pastors’ and Deacons’ Conference, being held at Camp Pioneer in Angola, NY.  Pastor Glenn Stresman will be available if an emergency arises during this time; to reach him, get in touch with the church office (519-256-2667).

INTERESTED IN A MEMBERSHIP CLASS?  We’ve heard from some folks lately interested in membership in our church, and we’d like to know if you … or someone you know … are open to that also.  Pastor Bugbee is hoping to put together a class to provide basis “catechesis” (Christian teaching) to prepare adults for membership in our congregation.  Be in touch sooner rather than later, so we can do our research and figure out what days and times would work best.  Call the church office about it (519-256-2667).

GERMAN SERVICES WILL CONTINUE year-round, as resolved recently by our Board of Elders.  When the summer schedule begins, we will move the English service to 10:00 a.m. while Sunday School and Bible classes are on break.  However, the 8:45 a.m. Service will continue throughout July and August.  We mention this already now to give you a “heads up”!

CALL AND ASSIGNMENT SERVICE for our Concordia Seminary is set for Saturday, May 26, at 4:00 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, 140 Russell Avenue in St. Catharines.  This is when the current “crop” of vicars and candidates receive their assignments for service in the church.  It also marks the close of the Seminary’s academic year.

CONCORDIA SEMINARY’S ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT is scheduled for Monday, June 4th at Sawmill Golf Course in Fenwick, beginning at 11:30 a.m.  The $110 per person registration fee includes a BBQ lunch (sausages, hamburgers, hotdogs and a non-alcoholic beverage), green fees, golf cart, chicken/rib combo dinner, dessert and prizes.  Please call the church office at 519-256-2667 for registration information.

LUTHERAN HOUR:  “Keep Them” (John 17:  14-17) – There are times Christians might readily wish the Lord would airlift them out of this world.  Because we have some work to do, the Lord Jesus prays we be kept safe.  So, how’s that working for you?  Listen to today’s Lutheran Hour Speaker Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus on Sunday mornings at 1130AM at 6:30 a.m., 1600AM at 9:00 a.m., or 560AM at noon.  Streaming audio and pod-casts at www.lutheranhour.ca.

MOTHER’S DAY MARCH & SILENT VIGIL, the yearly event held by Windsor-Essex County Right to Life will take place this afternoon at Immaculate Heart Parish, 2153 Parkwood Ave. beginning at 2:15 p.m.  Tina Louise Greco from Up About Down, the Windsor/Essex Down Syndrome Association will be the Guest Speaker.
