First Lutheran Church has served the Windsor area from our present site, ever since 1928. We are affiliated with Lutheran Church-Canada, which is comprised of 325 congregations from British Columbia to New Brunswick.
Many Lutheran congregations were initially established in Canada to minister to immigrants from Europe and this tradition continues with several of our congregations, including ours, being multi-lingual. (We have services in both German and English.) Outside Canada, our Synod’s missionaries can be found in Ukraine, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Venezuela and we also support missions in Congo, Zaire and Eastern Europe. We are “mission minded”
Our Worship services draw upon the rich traditions of the early church and they provide a framework within which our members can receive God’s blessings as His Word is preached and the Lord’s Supper celebrated.
Creating a strong Christian foundation for our children is very important for us, and through our Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation Classes and Youth Groups, as well as in our congregation’s Christian Day School, F.L.C.A., young people learn from the Bible how their faith is part of everything they do.
Our confessions and practices are based on the foundation of God’s word and the belief that God’s gift of salvation is found only through faith in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son.
Jesus has a listening ear and a caring heart. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we at First want to follow His example.
